1. To eliminate the consumer’s biggest headaches, namely access to information and competitive prices.
2. To be able to build the best homes at the lowest prices.
In general, buyers of new homes need to chart a complex course between designers, manufacturers and general contractors in order to obtain the right information about their building project. Obviously, during this voyage, the buyer’s needs and wants tend to change, and so designs need to be modified. Furthermore, buyers will quickly learn that no-one involved is in a position to offer a holistic view of the environmental and mechanical choices that are relevant for the project.
Buyers of a KYO home face a much more welcoming prospect. We work together with you to specify the parameters of your project, we provide you with full disclosure on all the elements to be included and generate models of what will be built. By doing this we not only satisfy your requirements, but also ensure that our teams work at maximum efficiency to manufacture and build your home. This efficiency is derived from the application of our tried and tested formulae, and the avoidance of on-the-fly decision-making.
For houses in our Ageless range, the cost is between 800$ and 1600$ plus applicable taxes.
For houses in our Peerless range, the cost will be define in regard of architecture and project conditions.
These prices are subject to change without notice, and can vary according to project specifications.
For Ageless range, the cost of the preliminary design package is credited back to you when you proceed with the construction of a kit or turnkey project. Should you decide to delay the construction phase, the relatively symbolic cost of the design package will still enable you to benefit from our technical and design expertise in refining and specifying the essential elements of your future plans.
Certainly you may. We need to be responsible, at minimum, for building the shell (building envelope without the basement). All other elements of the home can be executed by the client.
When it comes to timberframe homes, the reverse is true: personalization costs less than off-the-shelf.
Even if you buy a standard house model that has already been built before, it may include costly architectural elements that are difficult to manufacture and assemble, or which imply expensive finishing work on site. You would therefore be paying for non-optimised elements.
Timberframe construction imposes constraints which are best managed by specialists who have experience in managing the entire design and production process. Remember that the house is being built using structural timbers that will remain visible after the home is complete. Unlike in the case of conventional construction, builders’ errors cannot be masked by finishing elements.
We are proud of the fact that the breadth of KYO’s in-house expertise singles us out in the marketplace for timberframe construction.
Because the number of options and possibilities is too great to have them all displayed.
Take a look at the following criteria for choosing floor plans, and ask yourself if they apply to you:
You will want a high quality build at a competitive price, so you will need to translate these requirements into the respective fabrication and construction parameters, or else you may face unpleasant surprises. It is only after you have gone through this preliminary design process that you should start considering floor plans.
Personalization allows us to apply well-thought out structural formulae and avoid improvisation during the various stages of architectural drafting, interior design, fabrication and construction. With personalization, KYO delivers a timberframe home that suits your requirements at a price significantly lower than would be the case for a custom built project.
For any given volume, the answer is usually yes. But the timberframe home’s striking architectural components allow for open-plan layouts that amplify liveable interior volumes. Because of this better use of space, you can build at a slightly smaller scale than would otherwise be required using conventional techniques, and in this way you can achieve comparable project costs.
Furthermore, by building a turnkey project with us, you benefit from our expertise in managing total project costs and saving on the various components of the building cost.
The shell (building envelope without basement) can be done all around Quebec. The building envelope and Turnkey projects cans only be done in Monteregie, Estrie and Montreal.
We also undertake projects on a shared-task basis with general contractors and self-builders in all regions. Contact us for more information.
Yes. The home designs that we show on our website are there to offer inspiration. They can all be personalized.
The actual cost varies with each project and depends on volumes (ex: whether or not cathedral ceilings are envisaged) but also on forms selected (simple or complex), the wood species and mechanical elements being used, on the level of energy efficiency being targeted, on the choice of finish elements, the area, the site conditions and your involvement. Self-building or simply managing the finish phase will remain économical solutions.
